Libya Splintering in Wake of Gaddafi's Death

Libyan leader Mustafa Abdul Jalil vowed Wednesday to use force to stop the country breaking up after leaders in an eastern region declared autonomy. His comments came amid mounting evidence Libya is retreating into a series of rival fiefdoms controlled by competing militias in the wake of Muammar Gaddafi's death. Israeli troops entered northern Gaza Wednesday, briefly sealing the border crossing. Witnesses said two Israeli bulldozers and three tanks entered the area and leveled land near the border. Homeless Mother Gets 12 Years for Using Babysitters’ Address to Enroll Child in School

Tanya McDowell was sentenced to 12 years in prison earlier this month for using her babysitter's address to enroll her son in a Norwalk, Connecticut school. When school officials discovered the black, homeless mother’s son was improperly enrolled, they didn't simply remove him, as they had done with 25 other students that year, they pushed for McDowell to be prosecuted on first-degree larceny charges.
